Fabriq & EMA partnership

We are pleased to announce that Fabriq has entered into a partnership with the Energy Managers Association (EMA)! More specifically, Fabriq will collaborate with the EMA to package up a solution dedicated to streamlining the process for UK businesses that are required to comply with the recently-introduced Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) requirements.

Before going into more details regarding the EMA-Fabriq partnership, a quick summary of what SECR requirements mean for UK businesses. The SECR framework was introduced earlier this month by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) as the replacement for the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme. It was designed to be a more straightforward way for any UK business required to comply with SECR requirements to report on its energy performance and carbon footprint. To be more specific, since the SECR requirements coming into force on 1 April 2019, any company that meets two of the following criteria must comply with SECR requirements and report on its energy performance and carbon footprint:

  • Employs more than 250 staff
  • Has at least £36 million in annual turnover
  • Has at least £18 million on its balance sheet

To make reporting per SECR requirements more straightforward, the EMA is introducing a dedicated web-based portal for energy managers and its members. Fabriq's tried-and-true capabilities for capturing and summarising energy and carbon-emissions figures will be on offer as part of the EMA offering. By combining the EMA's expertise and Fabriq's data-management capabilities, the aim is that a SECR-compliance digital toolkit to be offered by the EMA and powered by Fabriq will make compliance per SECR requirements more efficient and straightforward.

Overall, we are excited to be working with the EMA team on this and other initiatives, so watch this space for future updates regarding our collaboration with the EMA.
