No doubt July was a tumultuous month - from electing a new UK Prime Minister to hitting the highest ever recorded temperature in the UK (not that these two are related in any way). Going beyond events affecting our nation, undoubtedly the most important celebration this month is celebrating the 50th anniversary of arguably the single biggest achievement of mankind in the 20th century, the moon landing. Whilst there are so many aspects of the event which are mind-blowing, currently my thoughts are with the man who provided the vision and leadership behind this feat and his speech at Rice University which set the scene for what was to come.

Let me just put this on record: Proptech is an exciting space. I’m saying this as someone who’s spent the past 10+ years in it, hence longer than the term proptech itself has been in existence. Previously largely used to refer to online agencies, proptech today apparently encompasses some 7,000 startups (according to CBRE’s Thomas Herr) and goes well beyond making real estate transactions more efficient.

Lots has been said about 2018 already and what an amazing and at the same time dramatic year it has been. Personally, I will never forget *that* simultaneous landing of the two Falcon Heavy side boosters (followed by watching Spaceman circle the planet live on YT for a few hours).While in a decade or two we might actually send people to Mars, there is something much bigger unfolding right in front of our eyes, right here and now.
